Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) can store a lot of energy, which is great for things like phones and electric cars. But they have some problems because the liquid inside can evaporate and cause issues. Scientists found a way to make these batteries last longer and work better using a special chemical called THB.

THB helps create a strong protective layer on the battery’s lithium metal. This layer stops bad reactions and prevents the growth of tiny metal spikes that can damage the battery. It also makes it easier for lithium ions to move inside the battery, helping it work more efficiently.

In experiments, batteries with THB lasted much longer and worked better than those without it. For example, a battery with THB kept almost all its power even after 300 times of charging and discharging. It also worked well at high temperatures, unlike regular batteries.

This new method makes LMBs safer and more reliable. By using a small amount of THB, the performance of the battery improves a lot. This could help make LMBs more common and useful for many things.

In simple terms, adding THB to LMBs creates a strong protective layer and helps lithium ions move better. This makes the batteries last longer and stay stable, which is a big step in making better energy storage technology.
